Our Philosophy

We believe in work-life balance

At BBMRI-ERIC, we believe in the importance of our work – but not at the expense of our well-being. Our flexible working hours allow us to pick up our kids from school, compensate for our travel schedules, or work from home on occasion.

We hire talented professionals and trust them to get their work done without someone looking over their shoulder. We believe that people are most productive when they have some control over their schedules – and our employees say this mindset is a huge asset to working at BBMRI.

We believe in taking care of our employees

In addition to Austrian holidays and paid leave, employees receive a benefits package including private health insurance and private pension scheme. Your pension can move with you around Europe, which is a huge advantage for our internationally minded team.

Our headquarters is located in a modern building on the Medical University campus, a bustling area of Graz with excellent public transportation (1 tram and several buses). A parking garage is available as well. Several restaurants, plus a food truck, bakery and grocery store serve the hungry medical professionals, researchers and staff in the area.

We believe in spreading our wings

With National Nodes in 20 member and observer states, hosting an annual European conference, and participating in several EU H2020 projects with meetings across the continent and beyond, our employees have frequent opportunity to network with professionals across Europe – and the world.

We also urge our staff to take advantage of opportunities for professional growth. Upward mobility within the headquarters is common, and we hope to prepare our staff to move forward into new professional challenges.
