About us

BBMRI-ERIC is a European research infrastructure for biobanking. We bring together all the main players from the biobanking field – researchers, biobankers, industry, and patients – to boost biomedical research. To that end, we offer quality management services, support with ethical, legal and societal issues, and a number of online tools and software solutions for biobankers and researchers. Ultimately, our goal is to make new treatments possible.

What is biobanking?

Typically, a biobank is a place to store all types of human biological samples, such as blood, tissue, cells or DNA. It also stores data related to the samples as well as other biomolecular resources that can be used in health research.

Stakeholder Forum

The BBMRI-ERIC Stakeholder Forum is the main interface for European patients’ organisations, civil society, industry and academia to interact with the biobanking universe.

Located in Graz, Austria, the BBMRI-ERIC Central Executive Management Office is where the work done by the National Nodes is coordinated. It is also where the Director General, the administrative staff, the project managers, the communications team, and the people managing our Quality, IT and ELSI Services are based.

We use our Intranet to provide access to important documents. It is for internal use only.
