Monitoring the preanalytical phase in biobanking: Key variables and QC strategies

The training will inform about the existence and implications of the pre-analytical phase in biobanking. Participants will be introduced to tools for quality monitoring throughout the entire process of fractionating blood, urine, and solid tissue. Suitable biomarkers that can be used in clinical quality control programs for biological material deposited in biobanks will also be presented. Another topic will be the integration of quality aspects with the ISO 20387 standard and its requirements for interlaboratory control of processes and samples stored in biobanks.
