SUMMARY:A guided walk through CEN/TS 17626:2021 for microbiome DNA analysis
DESCRIPTION:PART 4\nRegister here!\nThe webinar will take place on 16 October 2026\, 10:30-11:45 CEST \nATTENTION:To attend the live webinar\, participants must possess a copy of CEN/TS 17626:2021 for licensing purposes. \nSummary: \n\nThe webinar series is held in the context of the EU project CaBRIOH and co-organised by CaBRIOH project partner Medical University of Graz(BBMRI.at coordinator) and the BBMRI-ERIC Academy. It focuses on the European Technical Specification “Molecular in vitro diagnostic examinations – Specifications for pre-examination processes for human specimen – Isolated microbiome DNA”. It gives insight into the document clause by clause and provides as background information scientific evidence and rational as well as practical tips for users of CEN/TS 17626. \nPart 4: Clause 6 “Inside the laboratory” \nThis webinar addresses the workflows for microbiome DNA isolation that occur within the laboratory. This starts from receiving and processing the samples\, through the critical DNA isolation procedures\, quantity and quality assessment\, and finally storage of the isolated DNA. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nSpeaker \nDominic O’Neil\, M.S.\, M.B.A (QIAGEN) \nHost \nDr. Maike Tauchert \nAfter watching the webinar\, participants will have acquired the following knowledge: \n\nIdentify key steps and considerations when receiving\, processing and intermediately storing specimens before DNA isolation\nUnderstand key considerations for microbiome DNA isolation and the factors that can affect DNA quality and quantity\nLearn about approaches for assessing the quality and quantity of isolated microbiome DNA\nRecognize appropriate storage conditions for isolated microbiome DNA and factors that may affect its stability

SUMMARY:Urine Liquid Biopsy – About Chances and Challenges
DESCRIPTION:Register here!\nThe webinar will take place on 10 November 2026\, 10:30-11:30 CET \nSummary: \nCell-free DNA (cfDNA) analysis is an increasingly important component of liquid biopsy\, enabling non-invasive biomarker research\, disease detection and monitoring. Urine represents an attractive specimen type due to its ease of collection and potential to provide information from both urological and non-urological diseases. However\, urine cfDNA is highly susceptible to preanalytical variables that can affect sample quality\, quantity and analytical reliability. \nThis webinar introduces urine cfDNA and its applications in liquid biopsy\, highlights key challenges associated with specimen collection\, stabilization\, processing\, and cfDNA quality control\, and explains why standardization of the preanalytical workflow is essential. Drawing on the concepts underlying the ISO 18704 standard\, participants will gain practical insights into factors that contribute to reproducible and reliable urine cfDNA analyses. \nSpeaker \nDr. Daniela Mancarella-Langer (QIAGEN) \nHost \nDr. Maike Tauchert \nAfter watching the webinar\, participants will have acquired the following knowledge:\n\nExplain the biological origin of cfDNA and its role in liquid biopsy applications.\nDescribe the opportunities and limitations of urine as a specimen for cfDNA analysis.\nIdentify critical preanalytical variables that influence urine cfDNA quality\, quantity and downstream analytical performance.\nUnderstand the importance of specimen stabilization\, processing\, cfDNA isolation\, quality control\, and documentation to obtain reliable results.
