SUMMARY:Biobanking Development Webinar: Cost recovery model in biobanking
DESCRIPTION:This webinar is dedicated to explaining the cost recovery model that biobanks/biobankers can use to calculate the costs associated with sample and data provision in order to stay sustainable. This model is currently being implemented in two EU projects; namely ISIDORE and CanSERV. \nWithin public biobanks\, there is no universally acknowledged model for charge/fee calculation for sample and/or data provision. The cost of access varies among countries due to labour expenses and is heavily influenced by the nature and complexity of the collection (i.e.\, population-based collection vs. specialised collection of unique samples). Considering this\, a general cost recovery model has been developed for the calculation of cost depending on the complexity of the request. This may entail that some complex requests would require a more precise calculation to determine whether access to clinical samples and associated data could involves additional costs or is less complicated and allows for reduced costs. This cost recovery model is based on the previous guidelines and calculation grid for biobanks published by Clément et al.\, 2014 (Clément et al.\, 2014). \nJoin us on 2 November from 15:00 – 16:00 CET to find out more. Register online. \nModerator: Dr. Saba Abdulghani\, Head of Biobanking Development\, BBMRI-ERIC \nSpeaker: Dr. Łukasz Kozera\, Scientific Programme Manager\, Biobanking Development\, BBMRI-ERIC \nAccess to Detailed Speaker Profiles \nDetailed Agenda: \n– Welcome & Introduction \n– What is a cost-recovery model and how can biobankers use it? \n– Examples from on-going EU projects \n– Q&A

SUMMARY:Biobanking Development Webinar: Genomics and biobanking – a perfect match
DESCRIPTION:Genomics is a rapidly evolving field constantly breaking down the boundaries of cost and time efficiency of analysis. Lately\, translational and clinical researchers are also looking beyond the genome – at transcriptional\, epigenetic and proteomic signatures to reveal new insights into disease aetiology. By taking advantage of new technological developments in this field\, biobanks can maximise the value of their samples by identifying and validating multiomic biomarkers and thus creating new opportunities for collaborations with industry\, academia\, and other organisations. \nThis webinar will cover recent advances in genomic technology (including sequencing and data analysis)\, how European biobanks are using genomics and multiomics to increase value of their samples\, and how the research community is using genomic/multiomic data from biobanks. for advancing biomedical research. \nJoin us on 9 November from 14:30 – 16:00 CET to find out more. Register online. \nModerator: Dr. Saba Abdulghani\, Head of Biobanking Development\, BBMRI-ERIC \nSpeakers: Dr. Samuel Kroll (Strategic Business Development Manager at Illumina)\, Dr. Eva Ortega Paíno (Scientific Director of the CNIO Biobank\, NN Director of BBMRI.es)\, Dr. Vita Rovite (Head of the scientific group\, senior researcher at LMBC\, NN Director of BBMRI.lv) \nAccess to Detailed Speaker Profiles \nDetailed Agenda: \n– Recent advances in genomic technology \n– Genomics and multiomics – Biobank perspective \n– Multiomics data – Research perspective \n– Expert panel discussion\, Q&A
