SUMMARY:ELSI Dialogues: Participatory Cancer Research and Regulation in Middle-Income Countries
DESCRIPTION:Description\nCancer is an increasingly urgent public health challenge in many middle-income countries\, where health systems face constrained resources. In this context\, strengthening cancer research and regulatory frameworks requires not only technical capacity\, but also inclusive\, participatory approaches that meaningfully engage patients and communities. \nThis webinar brings together experts from selected middle-income countries to explore how participatory models can enhance the effectiveness of oncology research and decision-making. \nA key focus of the discussion will be on practical mechanisms for embedding patient engagement within regulatory systems\, including advisory boards and co-creation models. Particular attention will be paid to the challenges and opportunities specific to middle-income settings\, such as resource constraints\, health literacy and institutional capacity. \nJoin us! \n11 September 2026\, 10:00-11:00 CEST \nRegister online here. \nSpeakers:  \n\n Naila Saadia Hamitou\, medical intern and public health advocate from Algeria\, member of the Public Relations Team at the Hope Dose Foundation\, Algeria\nMaria Theodoridou\, Secretary of the Board of Directors of ELLOK Hellenic Cancer Federation and President of the Cancer Patient Support Association “Living well with Cancer” in Heraklion\, Crete.\nProf. Ana Paula Myszczuk\, Professor in the Postgraduate Program in Planning and Public Governance.
